Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers who can make garden design and observation clear to a curious general reader. Proposals should bring a distinct subject, a sound plan and a direct explanation of why the reader should care.
What to pitch
We are interested in focused pieces about planting, layout, materials, seasonal change or garden history. Useful approaches include explaining a visual principle, comparing two choices, tracing a garden feature through time or helping readers notice a particular aspect of a space. Avoid broad surveys that try to cover everything at once.
What makes a strong proposal
State the working title, central idea, proposed category and main points the article will cover. Explain what is distinctive about the angle and how you will support factual claims. Keep recommendations proportionate, flag any limits or dependencies, and do not promise outcomes that a general reader cannot reliably expect.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Include a short description of your relevant experience, but do not assume a pitch has been accepted until you receive a reply. We do not promise publication or a response by a particular date.
A garden is never quite finished.
We look for the patterns, materials and seasonal shifts that make outdoor spaces interesting, then explain them without pretending one design fits every plot.
